What happens if you pour hot tea at a temperature of -40 °C at the Arctic circle

All, of course, know that when water freezes it turns to ice, but have you ever been to see this process firsthand? Michael Davis, photographer from Ontario, got the most amazing shots when his friend Marcus splashed hot tea from a thermos at a temperature of -40 degrees. At such low temperatures, water, and especially the fine spray freezes instantly, leaving a spectacular icy trail. And it all looks fantastic! Pictures were taken just 20 kilometers from the Arctic circle, where Davis works as a photographer in one of the research companies.

According to the photographer, this is the place, where in winter the sun’s light can be seen for only two hours a day, and in order to obtain such pictures, was gently to a lot of things happened in a perfect chain.

“About one o’clock my friend and I jumped on the snowmobile, drove 45 minutes to the top of the nearest mountain, where the light (which at this time is almost always pink) will hit the hills. We had prepared some hot tea, we began to spray, taking it all. in search of the perfect shots. They had no chance: I was watching the temperature, looking for a place where the wind was weakest, planned shots. And even the sun in the center of this circle of spray was what I expected, although it certainly can be controlled, least of all”.
