Everything flows, everything changes, and this is life but something remains the same. Recently the London market, located in Covent garden and famous since the 19th century, was transformed in the most amazing way. French artist Charles Petillon, together with 25 workers spent 5 days to inflate 100,000 big white balloons for a stunning installation entitled “Heartbeat”. This project is part of the cultural program in which London’s Covent garden will be transformed into a kind of art gallery with constantly changing exhibits. The project will continue until the end of September of the current year.
“I use balloons to create metaphorical images, says Charles Petillon, — the Purpose of these metaphors is to change people’s attitudes to things that we take for granted and who don’t even notice in our everyday bustle of life. His project “Heartbeat” I want to show people that this old London also has its own heart, its own life, which he lives since the 19th century and today. I want to show that Covent garden connects the past with the present to every visitor to reconsider their attitude to this place, in the heart of London.”
